01

Common blend language

E10 generally denotes gasoline containing up to about ten percent ethanol by volume. E85 is a high-ethanol blend for flex-fuel vehicles and can vary seasonally. The pump label and vehicle manual govern use.

02

Vehicles and engines

Most modern gasoline vehicles are designed for common low-level blends sold in their market. High-level blends require compatible vehicles. Small engines, marine equipment and seasonal equipment may have specific manufacturer guidance.

03

Water and storage

Ethanol interacts with water differently from hydrocarbon gasoline. Fuel age, sealed storage, contamination and equipment materials all matter. Users should follow fuel supplier and equipment-manufacturer instructions.
