01

Product and blend

Neat ethanol is ethanol before blending. Denatured fuel ethanol has an added denaturant that makes it unfit for beverage use. E10 and E85 describe nominal ethanol blend levels; vehicle and seasonal specifications still matter.

02

Price location

Plant-gate, terminal, rack and retail refer to different points in the supply chain. Basis is the difference between a local cash value and a chosen benchmark.

03

Compliance language

Carbon intensity expresses lifecycle greenhouse-gas emissions per unit of energy under a defined method. A compliance credit is a regulatory instrument, not a litre of fuel.
