Read the label as a set of authorized operating conditions

Identity and authorization

Match the brand name, identification or registration number, authorization holder, physical form and package. The Biocides Regulations require specific information on inner labels and, where applicable, outer labels. Required information must be presented in English and French.

Claim, setting and surface

Find the intended purpose, target organisms or claim level, intended setting and allowed surface types. A household authorization does not silently become a commercial, health-care, food-premises or animal-housing authorization.

Marketing language must remain consistent with the market authorization. A broader website claim can create risk even when the package label is accurate.

Directions and safety conditions

Locate pre-cleaning, application method, dilution or ready-to-use status, quantity, temperature where relevant, contact time, rinsing, ventilation, personal protective equipment, re-entry, first aid, storage, incompatibilities and disposal information.

Do not combine products or modify concentrations unless the current authorized label expressly provides for that use.
